“We must accept finite disappointment, but never lose infinite hope( Martin Luther King, Jr). Junior describes how living on the reservation makes Indians lose hope. “The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian,” by Sherman Alexie follows a native boy named, Junior as he chases hope. His parents are examples of Indians who did not follow their dreams because nobody ever believed in them. A desire to break out of this cycle of poverty, Junior decides to transfer to Reardan. Junior chases hope through the story as he works to follow his dream . Junior’s mother and his teacher, Mr.P, encouraged him to follow his dreams and not to give up hope. Junior listened and went although he wrestles with the feeling that he is betraying his tribe by attending Reardan. Junior realizes that staying on the reservation would not offer him any opportunities.- 2 main reasons.
